(from the moon series)
The last stop before sleep. The idle lights
and cold marble ground. The conveyor belts
of the soul. Someone has to wait here.
Someone has to tend to the intermediary.
The clicks of shoes, of heels. The tongues
on the chairs and the ears also.
This is where thoughts collect, in the void
of movement, after long vacations,
before short journeys on the worms
of the night. Eat the turkey and goat
cheese sandwich. This is the body
as a machine. This is how time eats.
This is how the government of change passes
the days. With a backpack, a book
and something good to listen to.
